The first building on the Southwest Missouri Teachers College (now Missouri State University) campus - when it moved from the old Normal School building at Cherry St. and Pickwick Ave. - was built in 1907 at a cost of about $267,000. A new wing was added in 1912. It housed the entire college program including activities in a small gym in the attic. The structure was first named Academic Hall but was renamed the Administration Building in 1945. Then, in 1974, it was renamed Carrington Hall to honor the first president of the college, W.T. Carrington. Approved: 12/19/77 |
