This is how I looked in the early 1960's, directly out of Ohio University with a degree in journalism. How did I get here from Ohio? While recuperating from pneumonia I contracted in the military, I read an ad in The Quill, the magazine of Sigma Delta Chi, the journalism organization, advertising for a newsman in Springfield, Missouri. When I was well enough to travel, I got on a bus and arrived in Springfield on a cold and snowy January day to check out that KYTV job. I liked what I saw and stayed at the station for the next eight years. For a look at the news department during those early years, other aspects of local TV, and highlights of news events during that time, click on one of the headings at left. Enjoy.
